Pickup Truck Collides With Sand Truck in East Baton Rouge Parish
One Monday morning at the end of rush hour, a 2010 Chevy Silverado pickup truck was driving on the stretch of LA 67 known as Plank Road, East Baton Rouge Parish. The driver lost control of the vehicle as it approached Welch Road. He crossed the center lane and struck the rear of a trailer being towed by a Freightliner dump truck. The trailer was full of sand, some of which spilled onto the road as a result of the accident. The driver, a 33-year-old man from Slaughter, was pronounced dead at the scene. At the time that news reports were published, the accident was still under investigation. Investigators had established that the pickup truck driver was wearing a seatbelt, and police believe that neither driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Bucket Truck Plunges From I-10 Bridge
At around 6:00 in the morning, a car struck the barrier of the eastbound lanes of the Calcasieu River Bridge on I-10 in Lake Charles. As other vehicles sought to avoid the disabled vehicle, this led to a chain reaction collision involving four vehicles. Shortly after that, a bucket truck approached, and its driver swerved to avoid hitting the pileup of vehicles on the bridge. This led to the driver losing control of the truck and eventually plunging over the guardrail near the foot of the bridge. The driver of the bucket truck was not seriously injured enough to require medical treatment, but three people in other vehicles were injured and transported to the hospital.
Semi Truck Crashes Into Trees in St. Tammany Parish
Kirby’s Curve is the area of I-12 where it connects to I-59 in Slidell. Just after 3:00 in the morning, the driver of a semi truck lost control of his vehicle on Kirby’s Curve and veered onto the road into the nearby wooded area, eventually crashing into several trees. The truck overturned, and fire rescue teams arrived at the scene. It took them several hours and almost every tool they possessed to get the driver out of the truck. Photos from the scene show firefighters climbing through the window of the truck to attend to the injured driver. The driver was airlifted to a nearby hospital. No information about his condition was available when the 4WWL news website reported on the accident.
